The archive
Somebody has to keep a copy.
Most Malaysian zines are printed in runs of 50, sell at one fair, then disappear. No library collects them, so we do.
We’d rather collect it in person
If we can get to you, we’d rather meet than have you post it. We’ll spend half an hour talking about how the book came to be: why you made it, how it was printed, what went wrong. That becomes an interview on the site, and we take the copy back with us.
Keeping the book is the easy part. The story of how it was made, in the maker’s own words, is what’s lost in 10 years if nobody asks.
Each copy is catalogued like a library book (format, year, pages, size, printing, edition size, language), and the record goes on the book’s page for anyone to see. Then it stays on a shelf in Kuala Lumpur. We don’t sell, lend or scan it.

One day this becomes a book
The plan is a printed record of everything in the archive: what was made in Malaysia, by whom, and when. We're looking for someone to fund it.
Nothing goes in without the maker's permission, and we ask for it each time a book is added.
Sending us a copy
Publish a book and we’ll get in touch to arrange a time. If you’re far from the Klang Valley or would rather not meet, tell us and we’ll work something out. Please don’t post anything yet.
